Walk the dunes
The deep red dunes of Sossusvlei and the bone-white salt pans of the DeadVlei qualify as one of the world's true wonders. Arriving early at the park gates will ensure avoiding crowds and snapping pictures without other people in your frame. Although it helps be close to the park entrance, we recommend staying further out and getting an early start to avoid the crowds.
Explore the Dead Vlei
The iconic and otherwordly white salt pans dotted with petrified trees are a must-see when visiting the Sossuvlei. Best visited in the early morning or late afternoons. Depending on the time of year, this spot can get quite busy so if you want a clean shot, jump to the head of the line as you approach the desert.
Visit the NamibRand and discover the fairy circles
Located in southern Namibia, NamibRand is a private nature reserve established by conservationist J.A. Brückner to help protect and conserve the wildlife and unique ecosystem. This hauntingly beautiful desert is a feast for the senses with its undulating red dunes, sage silver grasslands, and mile upon mile of endless space.
Stargazing and sleeping under the stars
This part of Namibia has some of the least light-polluted and starry skies. In fact, the Namib Rand was awarded an official dark sky reserve and offers some of the best stargazing in the world. If there are options to sleep outdoors and enjoy an evening light show. Don’t forget your constellation guide!
