3 course communal dinners under a canopy of stars.
Waking up with the first rays of light to a toasty cup of coffee and a bucket of warm water for a morning wash.
Charming bucket showers after long dusty desert walks.
Breaktaking sunset desert views bundled up in ponchos (provided by Tok Tokkie) and drinks in hand.
Hot water bottles tucked awayin your sleeping bag (pure bliss).
Sleeping under the stars at one of the darkest night skies in the word. Star (recognized by the International Darks Sky Association as a Dark Sky Reserve).
Informative pitstop at conservation NaDeet where you’ll be inspired by the efforts of the NGO to build awareness for conservation amongst school throughout Namibia.
Discovering the mysterious “fairy circles” in the rolling sand dunes.
Taking in the shadows on the dunes and the lightship of colors following sunset.
-
Sustainable ethos: Tok Tokkie's motto is low impact, leave-no-trace-behind (small group sizes, low-impact accommodations).
Community-driven: Affiliated with NaDeet (a non-profit, donor-sponsored trust) and committed to building awareness for conservation and providing environmental education for Namibia youth.
Waste, water and energy management: solar-powered, bucket showers.
“Every form of utilisation leaves a footprint on nature. If managed well hiking is a very eco-friendly and non-invasive way of travelling. Keeping our footprint in Namibia’s unspoiled landscapes as small as possible is of utmost importance to us.”

Good to know –
The Tok Tokkie experience is a 3 day/2 night fully guided and fully catered endeavor for groups of 2-8 guests. We hiked with another party of 4 which only added to the adventure. At most, you will be walking about 4-6 hours and the hikes are not strenuous. First day hike starts around 2:00 pm at the Tok Tokkie Trails farmhouse base camp. You will arrive back on the third day in the late morning. Warm days. Cool nights so dress appropriately (with good walking shoes)!
Location –
In the heart of the NamibRand Nature Reserve. 6 hours from Windhoek and about 1-2 hours from Sossusvlei.
